Minimum Play Time

1. No player will sit out consecutive innings
2. Player MUST start the next game after sitting the start of the previous game
3. No player will sit a second inning, until all players have sat one inning.
4. Players must be rotated from infield to outfield

Pitching

1. A designated Roster Coach is used for pitching
2. Coach is to be seated on a bucket, behind an L-Screen
3. All pitching is done from the direction of the mound, 20 feet away
4. Five (5) pitches per batter
5. Balls and strikes are not called
6. If ball is not put into play after 5 pitches, the batter is out

When your team is on offense

1. Continuous batting order is used. The player batting in the position following the batter who made the final out in a game is the leadoff batter in the next game. Batting order otherwise remains the same for the season.
2. Base stealing is not allowed
3. Runners may not advance on an overthrow
4. If batted ball hits pitching L-Screen or ball bucket, the ball is dead, runners advance one base
5. If batted ball hits the coach pitching, the ball is dead, all play stops and the pitch must be re-played. No runners are allowed to advance.
6. The pitch will not be counted.
7. Inning ends with 5 runs being scored or 3 defensive outs have been recorded, whichever comes first.
8. Score will be kept
9. Every batter and base runner must wear a helmet with face mask

When your team is on defense

1. Maximum of two (2) coaches on the field during play
2. If thrown ball hits pitching L-Screen or ball bucket, ball is dead, runners advance one base
3. Catchers wear equipment and may or may not catch the pitched ball. If catcher does not take position in catcher’s box, must be behind the plate (standing by backstop fence, eye to eye with the batter)Pitcher stands outside a circle around the pitching area

Game Time

1. Games are six (6) innings, and no new inning starts after 1 hour and 35 minutes
2. Complete the inning if started prior to 1 hour and 35 minutes
3. No score or records are kept at this level of play

Substitute Manager/Roster Coaches

Only the Manager and two (2) Roster Coaches are allowed in the on the field or in the dugout during games. In the event a team is missing a Manager or Roster Coach(es) for a game, a Manager or Roster Coach from another Tuckahoe team may be used as a substitute coach(es). Members of the TLL Board may also serve as substitute coaches. Coaches cannot be borrowed from the opposing team. Substitute coaches must be reported to the VP of Softball in advance of the game.

Penalty for not following Minimum Play / Batting rules:

• First offense: Verbal warning and manager appears before executive board
• Second offense: Manager suspended for next played game
• Third offense: Manager expulsion from league
